Welcome to GOW Fellowship
Real.

Real life.  Real church.  Real family.

This week: Welcome Home Kyle & Shasta,  Lottie Moon Kick-off

Join us for a special service this week as we kick off Lottie Moon.  Don't forget our special luncheon!  Bring lots of food as we celebrate with thankful hearts!  GOW's goal $6000

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering makes up 50 percent of the International Mission Board's total income and the Cooperative Program 33 percent.

Every penny given to Lottie Moon is used to support missionaries as they share the Gospel overseas.

This allows our church to join in a strategic global effort to reach the whole world. It also enables  missionaries to spend their time working to reach lost souls instead of raising their own support.

Special Lottie Moon story:

Iceland beginning to thaw

Just south of the Arctic Circle, ice covers about 10 percent of Iceland. Hot springs, volcanoes and geysers also dot its landscape. What Iceland hasn’t had is IMB missionary presence, but the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering can change that. A two-bedroom apartment might rent for $2,300 per month, including utilities. A gallon of gasoline is $13. An 8-ounce soft drink is $6.50.

Bill Jessup, pastor of Stafford Baptist Church, is already working on it.

“When God put Iceland on my heart, I knew I would be in for an adventure,” Bill said.

To prepare, Bill asked God to show him and his Stafford, Va., church family a way to befriend Iceland’s people, only 1 percent of whom are Christians. Bill’s church and two other church partners rented an apartment in the capital city of Reykjavik [RAKE-uh-VICK]. Maintaining a residence enabled the church to meet people and work with other Christians. So did making a video documentary.

“We ask people questions about themselves and about Iceland. Often, this leads people to open up about what they believe. …” Bill said.

Bill looks forward to Icelanders reaching their country for Christ with the help of one couple from his church seeking IMB appointment.
